Contemporary China Research Center at Fudan University (hereafter, “China Center”) was founded in December 2009 as a university-level research center that is created by and housed at the Fudan IAS. The Center is a research base of the “13th Five-Year Plan” Shanghai Civil Affairs which is jointly built by Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau and Fudan University. The center focuses on the issue areas of state governance, grass-root governance, and urban governance, etc. The Center has conducted a series of research projects to serve the country and Chinese society.

The China Center features “Hanbing Forum” and works with the Fudan IAS to conduct the “Annual Theme” interdisciplinary research project. Both institutions also co-organize “Rediscovering China Forum”, “Future World Forum”, “World Social Sciences Advanced Lectures”, and “China In-Depth Study Advanced Lectures”, among others.

The Director of the Contemporary China Research Center is Fudan IAS-SIRPA jointly appointed professor Jianjun Liu. Professor Liu is also the Director of the Institution Building program at the Fudan IAS.
