Sujian Guo (Ph.D. in political science) is distinguished university professor of Fudan University, Dean of the Fudan Institute for Advanced Study in Social Sciences, professor emerita of political science at San Francisco State University, founding Editor-in-Chief of five international academic journals: the Journal of Chinese Political Science, the Journal of Chinese Governance, the Chinese Political Science Review, the Fudan Journal of the Humanities and Social Sciences, Chinese Journal of Politics and Public Administration, Editor of Rowman & Littlefield book series on Chinese political development, and former president of the Association of Chinese Political Studies (USA). 

Guo earned his Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee in 1999 and M.A. from Peking University in 1987. His areas of specialization include comparative politics, international relations and methodology. His research interests include comparative politics and Chinese politics, comparative political economy, Sino-US relations, sustainable energy and environment, democratic transition, and economic transition.

He has published more over 80 academic journal articles both in English and Chinese, and authored and edited over 40 books, including Democratic Transitions: Modes and Outcomes; Chinese Politics and Government: Power, Ideology and Organization; The Political Economy of Asian Transition from Communism; Global Justice: Theories, Measurements and Rankings, Palgrave Handbook on Local Governance in Contemporary China; Governance in Transitional China; Political Science and Chinese Political Studies—The State of Field; The Political Economy of China's Great Transformation; Global Justice Index Report; Global Sustainable Energy Competitiveness Report; among many others.
