Fudan Journal of the Humanities and Social Sciences(FJHSS)is a peer-reviewed academic journal that publishes high-quality research articles, special issues and books reviews across all academic disciplines in the humanities and social sciences. As an English journal published and distributed by Springer-Nature, the FJHSS aims at providing an academic platform for intellectual exchanges between Chinese and international scholars. It will also promote Chinese humanities and social sciences to go global and thus serve the purposes of developing humanities and social sciences in China.

The Web of Science Core Collection of Clarivate Analytics (formerly Thomson Reuter) has listed the FJHSS in the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI), a new index in the Web of Science Core Collection. In addition, the FJHSS is also abstracted/indexed in the following six international social sciences indexes: EBSCO Database, Social Sciences Index, International Political Science Abstracts, PAIS International Abstracts, Sociological Abstracts, and Worldwide Political Science Abstracts. Scholars from anywhere can browse, download and cite the articles of the FJHSS via the aforementioned databases or their host institutions’ subscriptions. Therefore, the journal enjoys a wide circulation in the international academic community and a large reader community.

Recently, Springer-Nature has listed 20 journals in the social sciences to which Chinese scholars most like to submit their papers. The FJHSS is ranked 4th, along with other well-known SSCI journals such as Social Indicators ResearchEuropean Journal of Ageing, Journal of Labor Research, Journal of Housing and the Built Environment.

One important function of the academic journals is to propose, promote and shape new research agenda by organizing special issues and academic symposiums. The journal aims at influencing the agenda-setting in the disciplines and promoting interdisciplinary research and publications. The FJHSS has organized the following conferences: “Academic Periodicals and China Studies Go Global”, “Cross-Cultural and Ethnic Comparison of Modernity”, “Reconciling Two Agendas: National Interests and Global Justice”, and “The Normative Basis of International Relations”. Conference papers have been published in the special issues. The journal will continue this effort to facilitate the research and publications in cutting-edge agenda areas.
